Local Ice Climbing
There is ice climbing in Catamint Quarry which is within Diamond Hill Park.
It is about 40 feet high, slabby, and is rated about a NEI 2.
Diamond Hill Park is officially closed to climbing and access is across private land so I
haven't included directions on how to get there.
There is also some nice ice
flows that form on the road cuts at the Route 7 and Route 44 exits off Route 295.
The police will in the best case scenario kick you out of there and in the worse
case you could get arrested.
There is also ice climbing in Wolf Hill Quarry in Smithfield as well as Ross Rocks in nearby Killingly, CT. Both are very
subject to conditions.
The closest significant ice climbing is in the Auburn Ice Canyon in Auburn Massachusetts off RT 20.
